I wrote to you several months ago on behalf of the Birchwood Civic Association (BCA) of Jericho, concerning our request for the return of the four collection boxes removed from our development. In light of our discussions, the Postal Service returned one of the four boxes - currently located at the corner of Maytime Drive and Birchwood Park Drive.

At BCA's request, the Postal Service arranged for a density check of the returned box. This test confirmed that the demand for postal pick-up services in our development could easily support at the very least an additional collection box. The test, conducted during the last week of January (while the sidewalks were still covered with snow and it was difficult to reach the mailbox) resulted in an average of 78 pieces of mail each day. As this is more than triple the Post Office's minimum requirement of 25 pieces of mail, it seems appropriate to return a second collection box to our development of over 1,200 homes. We will be happy to work with you and your people to help determine the best location to maximize the use of this second box.
