The Jericho Department of Health, Physical Education and Athletics is joining together with the Jericho High School Blue Key Club to invite members of the Jericho school community to a night of family entertainment and community service on Friday, Jan. 28. The eighth annual wheelchair basketball game is a challenging and fun-filled face-off between the Nassau County Kings, members of the National Wheelchair Basketball Association, and Jericho faculty and coaches.

Teams compete in the high school gymnasium between 6 - 8 p.m. The Jericho High School Cheerleaders, Jayettes, and Singers all add to the festivities. Donations of $5 per person are appreciated. Proceeds from the evening, which last year totaled in excess of $6000, will directly benefit the Nassau County Kings. The funds enable the team to purchase much-needed wheelchairs. Wheelchair basketball is open to men and women with severe leg disabilities or paralysis of the lower body who are interested in playing basketball. Wheelchair basketball began more than 50 years ago in veterans hospitals, just after WWII.

The Jericho Boys Varsity Basketball Team will play Seaford High School at 8 p.m. following the exhibition.
