Lilly W. Banch, mother of Jollyn Dee Erickson of Southern Pines, NC, and Dr. Joyce C. Flynn of Northport, passed away on Jan. 9, 2005 at 90. Lilly was with her daughters when she died. She had lived in Southern Pines since 2002 when she moved from her home of 50 years in Syosset where she and her husband Joseph John Banch had raised their two daughters.
Mrs. Banch had a successful career as the treasurer and bookkeeper of the Syosset Central School District and was known throughout the Nassau County community for her extraordinary ballroom dancing ability. "Everyone would come over to compliment her on her grace and style while either dancing at the Rainbow Room in Manhattan or at the local VFW hall," said her daughter Joyce. "Ten years after my father's death, she fell in love with Daniel DiLorenzo of Hicksville, who was her beloved dance partner and friend until his death in 1997," said daughter Jollyn. Jollyn was the proprietor of The Jefferson Inn in Southern Pines until she sold the hotel and restaurant in 2003 to provide full-time care to her mother.
Lilly Banch is also survived by her grandsons, Todd Christopher Tracy who is married to Kate Bosnal Tracy of Southern Pines and Leland Scott Tracy of Bordeaux, France, and two great-grandchildren. Memorial services for the family will be private. Arrangements were made by the Boles Funeral Home, Southern Pines.
