Proceeds of Triathlon Presented to Long Island Charities
Among the highlights of the September 21 meeting of the Greater Long Island Running Club was the presentation of checks to the Long Island chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, the Long Island Alzheimer's Foundation, and the Oyster Bay-based environmental group Friends of the Bay, all from the proceeds of the 2004 Vytra-TOBAY Triathlon. The checks were presented by Running Club Vice President Mindy Davidson, who served as the Coordinator of Volunteers for the Vytra-TOBAY Triathlon. Rob Walker, Deputy Parks Commissioner of the Town of Oyster Bay, was also on hand to assist in the presentation of the checks.

Syosset Sports Up and Running
Even before school opens in September, Syosset student athletes are out on the fields running, drilling, getting in shape and learning how to function as a team. The fall athletic season is now open and students in Syosset High School, South Woods Middle School and H.B. Thompson are playing football, soccer, tennis and volleyball and participating in swimming and cross-country competitions and cheerleading and kickline.
