The Commerce Bank Long Island Classic, a Champions Tour golf tournament, is looking for volunteers for many jobs during tournament week. The annual event, now in its 18th year, will be held on an early date, June 28-July 4 and will be played at the Red Course at Eisenhower in East Meadow. Defending Champion Jim Thorpe will compete in a full field of Champions Tour professionals for a $1.5 million purse.

Volunteers are needed for the following committees: Transportation (cars will be provided), Marshals, Standard Bearers, Handicap Services, Laser Operators, Leaderboards, Admissions/Will Call and Administrative Support.

Junior Volunteers (13-16 years) are also needed as Junior Standard Bearers and Media Runners (no fee for juniors).

Training is provided prior to the tournament.

As at other professional golf tournaments, volunteers must purchase the volunteer golf shirt and golf cap at a cost of $45. (Juniors receive a free logo T-shirt and golf cap). In appreciation, volunteers receive a volunteer badge (good for admission all week), two season ticket booklets (for volunteers to distribute to family and friends) and lunch/snack on the days they volunteer.

For a volunteer application or for additional information, please call Lauralee Miller at the tournament office at 1-(631) 753-4357 or visit its website at longislandclassic.pgatour.com
