Syosset Central School District residents voted overwhelmingly to approve the proposed school budget for the 2003-2004 school year, and returned the three incumbent school board members to the board of education. President Janet Cox and trustees Shari Dorfman and Wendy Stapen were each elected to serve for another three-year term. The budget passed with 61 percent of the vote.
"We are very pleased to be shown this support from the residents of this district," said Superintendent Dr. Carole G. Hankin. "The passage of this budget enables the district to continue to provide the level of excellence for which we have become known. Our students are given incredible opportunities to succeed and achieve and they have demonstrated their enthusiasm to learn and motivation to do their best through their innumerable achievements. We are very fortunate to have a district in which everyone works together for the benefit of the students. Our excellent board of education, administration, faculty and staff, parents, and students work together to form a phenomenal team. We can look forward to another year of success and achievement for the students of the Syosset schools."
Board of Education President Janet Cox thanked the community on behalf of herself and trustees Wendy Stapen and Shari Dorfman. "We are very pleased to continue to have the privilege to serve the students and community members of Syosset. We want to thank everyone for their support and promise to continue to provide an excellent educational program to our students."
