Late Tuesday night, the New York State Assembly and New York State Senate overrode the governor's veto of A. 8023/S. 4286 changing the date of the annual school district budget vote and school board elections from May 20 to June 3.

The recent decision and date change also affects other meetings scheduled in local school districts.

Jericho Joint PTA Council scheduled a Meet the Candidates night for the Jericho School Board and the date has changed to May 20 at 8 p.m. in the Jericho High School Little Theater. The event will be moderated by representatives from the League of Women Voters. There are four candidates running for two open seats.

The Jericho Public Library will be holding their public hearing on May 20 at 7:30 p.m. and an opportunity to meet the candidates at 8 p.m. also in Jericho High School's little theater.

Syosset Council of PTAs is hosting a "Know Your Candidate Forum" and the date remains Tuesday, May 6 from 8 - 10 p.m. at Syosset High School Little Theater. It will be moderated by the League of Women Voters of Nassau County. Take this opportunity to meet and questions candidates for school board and library trustee. All are welcome.

The date for the Syosset Public Library's events will not change. The Meet the Candidates Night will take place on May 13 at the library and the library building forum will be held on May 16 at 7:30 p.m. also at the library.
