In the battle for the fifth and sixth grade championship, the 11753.com Liberty came back from a 14-11 halftime deficit to top the Woodbury Common's Mystics 33-28. The Liberty team's comeback was sparked by an all-around team effort that was their trademark throughout the year.

Their outstanding defense was the key to the game as they limited the potent Mystic offense to only 28 points. Defensively, the Liberty were led by their spiritual leader Laura Klein, as well as Lauren Cooper, Carling Sugarman and Jamie Curran who all made key plays throughout the game. On the offensive end, Samantha Plunkett tied her season high mark of 15 points, including 7 points in the third quarter to keep the Liberty within striking distance. Annette Kiviat scored 12 points, including a crucial 7 points in the final 6 minutes of the game. Julia Klimchak scored 5 points including the go-ahead basket and Caroline Motschwiller (1 point) scored a clutch free throw in the last minute to seal the victory.

The previously undefeated Mystics, the regular season champions, were led by the excellent all-around play of Alison Kinzer with 15 points, and Shana Feibus with 7 points. Jessica Weingast (2 points) opened up the game with a critical basket. Cole Shneider and Samantha Gordon (2 points each), each scored on clutch shots in the 4th quarter to boost their team's chances. Rachel Rosner, Sanchita Menra, Marissa Taurasi, Jamie Scheinthal and Jessica Lebovits all played an outstanding all-around game and demonstrated why they were the Regular Season Champions. The Mystics, who beat the Liberty in their only regular season meeting 26-20, and the Liberty both finished the season with outstanding records of 13-1.
