The Woodbury Common Mystics completed an undefeated regular season before embarking on the JBL playoffs on March 28 against the Monarchs whom they had twice beaten in the regular season. This season was truly magical for the Mystics' 10 players who learned to play as a team throughout the season.

The semi-final game against the Monarchs was a battle - the Monarchs would not go easy. The Mystics held a modest lead throughout the game behind the scoring of Alison Kinzer, Shan Feibus and Samantha Gordon with nine, eight and six points, respectively. Ali Gluck and Jessica Graf with 11 and 10 points, respectively kept the game close for the Monarchs. With the Mystics up by four with 33 seconds remaining the Monarchs stole the ball. On the ensuing play an intentional foul and two technicals were assessed the Mystics.

The Monarchs made four of six foul shots and as the Monarchs inbounded the ball the Mystics gained control and were fouled with 11 seconds left. Taking the ball out from under their own basket the Mystics call time out and when play resumed ran a play for Shana Feibus who scored the winning basket.

The Mystics gang of 10 played their usual team game on both sides of the floor with Sanchita Menra, two points; Jaime Scheinthal, Jessica Weingast, Marissa Terrasi, Jessica Lebovits, Rachel Rosner and Cole Shneider contributing mightily to the win. The Monarchs battled to the end behind the play of Julie Gold, one point; Carolyn Bordowitz, Pamela Bortnick, Danielle Schwartz, Amy Ballin and Chelsea Kutner each shot 7 for 19 from the foul line versus the Mystics 1 for 6.

In the finals on March 31 the Mystics finally felt the pressure of an undefeated season and met their match in a talented 11753.com Liberty and succumbed 33-28. The Mystics did not go easily however, in a close game they were led by seniors Ali Kinzer, Shana Feibus and Sanchita Menra 15, 5 and 2 points, respectively, as well as underclass persons Cole Shneider, Samantha Gordon and Jessica Weingast each had two points. Rachel Rosner, Marissa Terrasi, Jaime Lebovits and Jaime Scheinthal added their heart and skill in this final game. The Liberty were led by the fine offensive and defensive skills of Samantha Plunkett, 15 points; Annette Kiviat, 12 points; and Julia Klimcheck, 5 points.

In addition the Liberty were supported by the passing and defensive play of Laura Klein, Lauren Cooper, Jaime Curran, Caroline Motchswiller, one point and Carling Sugarman. In the end the Mystics could not overcome the 11 for 29 shooting by the Liberty from the foul line versus only 1 for 4 for the Mystics.
