The Jericho Rockets had an amazing come from behind victory beating the Levittown Red Devils 4 -2. The Red Devils were winning 2-0 at half time and the Rockets showed poise and determination in scoring 4 goals in the second half.
Leading the charge was the dynamic duo of Hillary Kesner and Alison Kinzer. Kinzer unselfishly set up Kesner with three beautiful passes. Kesner demonstrated her skills by trapping and shooting on each of the three plays, as the defense was about to pounce on her. Kinzer scored the fourth goal.
The defense again played a key role. Melissa Rudofsky and Shelby Rudolph played an outstanding second half. Both played aggressively and moved to the ball not allowing the Red Devils any chance of a counterattack. Also playing well on defense were Jordi Diamond, Marissa Krauser and Shelby Bates.
At midfield Rachel Podbielak played phenomenally. Her determination and hard nose attitude on the field kept the ball in play numerous times. Her throw ins were spectacular. Also playing well at midfield were Shana Feibus, Nicole Wanderman, Sam Perlstein, Lauren Tiffen, Nicole Kapner and Lindsay Hamburg.
Julie Avrutine played very well in the goal. Normally Julie will play out in the second half but as it became apparent that the game was close, she stayed in the goal for the team.
The girls played very well together and realized that playing as a team they can overcome challenging hurdles. They should be very proud of themselves, as we all are.
