Braves running backs had a great day behind the blocking of the offensive line of Dylan Schwaber, Jake Paston, Alex Parlo, center Greg Morley, Sean Lohan, Richie Lizza, and Christopher Ferolito. Connor Kennedy scored the Braves first touchdown from 35 yards out. Syosset's second touchdown was scored on a 50-yard run by Sean Lohan on a dive play that Sean broke outside after Seaford had stuffed the middle. The scoring was capped by quarterback Mike McIlwee on a 17-yard QB option. Although fullback Colin Byrne did not reach the end zone he contributed with 24 yards of offense running the ball. The Brave's had a 45-yard touchdown run by Jordan Zeidman called back on a penalty. The Brave's defense led by veterans Richie Lizza, Angelo Galasso, and Michael Genovese played outstanding keeping Seaford scoreless. First-year players Matthew Goldstein, Ryan Lukacovic, Anthony Diclemente, Stephen Ferrandino, Sean Valent and Benny Vasile all played good defense to help preserve the shutout. Outside linebackers Jake Levine and Jordan Zeidman are credited with shutting down the outside running of the Colts all day.

The Braves defeated Copiague in their home opener 20-12. A tough Copiague team came to town to avenge last week's loss at the hands of Levittown. But that was not to be as the Braves stood toe to toe with their much larger opponent and emerged victorious.

The Braves defense posted their first points of the season on a safety as Thomas Palumbo tackled the Copiague punter in the end zone for a 2-0 lead. The Syosset defense made the plays they needed to make to shut down a powerful offensive team.

Syosset drove down field on their first possession only to be stopped on downs at the Copiague 2-yard line. On that drive, Robert Galligan had two receptions and almost broke free for a score.

The Braves extended their lead to 8-0 on Joe Gallo's first TD of the day, a 54-yard gallop off left tackle. Two cuts and a crushing block by Palumbo was all Gallo needed as he raced toward the end zone. Syosset extended its lead to 14-0 on Gallo's second score of the day, a 60-yard dash around right end.

Copiague took over the ball and proceeded to grind out a drive, which resulted in a score right before halftime to cut the Syosset lead to 14-6.

Copiague picked up where they left off in the third quarter by pounding the ball up the middle. Their plan worked, as they finally were able to draw the defense in as they gained the corner in what looked like a sure score around right end. Luckily for Syosset, Sammy Galasso streaked across the field from his right safety position and made the tackle at the Syosset 20. The Braves held and took over possession.

Gallo scored his third of the game and seventh of the season to ice the game for the Braves securing their second win of the season.

"This game was a character builder," said Coach Avena. "As we proceed into the season we will take with us and draw upon the valuable lessons we learned today. Copiague wanted this game, no doubt. I guess we wanted it more."

"Every boy on this team contributed to the win either by tackling, blocking, running or special teams play. This group of young athletes truly have it set in their hearts to become league champs. They have already started on their vision quest" stated Coach Ehrens. Next up ... Levittown at home as the Braves go for victory number 3.

Sunday afternoons, which are supposed to be nice, turned into a dogfight in Amityville. Syosset Braves played their hearts and teeth out to a tough Amityville team. In the second quarter Syosset scored first, with great run by Jose Lebron, later in the quarter so does Amityville.

The third quarter was all field position for both teams. In the fourth quarter Amityville had the ball on their 22, with third down and 3. With 10:26 left the game was called because of lightning ending in a 7-7 tie. This game could be continued at the end of the season if necessary if the game is needed by either team to make the play-offs.

Coach Quinn said "I was so very proud of all my boys, they were going to win. The offense played great and the defense was not going to give them an inch. Special teams also played great with Amityville always having to start deep in their own zone. I look forward to this game continuing - let's find out who the real winner is. I know my guys will prevail, they all have the heart that it takes to win games".

This weeks Captains: Danny Rocco, Steve Santa, Jimmy Doyle & Taliek Vasquez.

In a great defensive game the Pony Red team rolled over Oyster Bay by the score of 20-0. Matt Stock scored the first touchdown on a 3-yard run up the middle. This score was set up by a 40-yard run by Gary Weinstein. Robert Cosgrove made a great catch on the extra point conversion to make the score 7-0. Paul Alessandri scored next on a 5-yard run off tackle. This play was also set up by a 50-yard run by Gary Weinsein. Matt Stock took the extra point in to make it 14-0. Kenny Barry put the final score up on the board by taking a quarterback bootleg over 50 yards making the score 20-0 in the middle of the second quarter. Great blocking up front by Sebby Crecco, Matt Castellano and Daniel Zucker helped set up all the scores.

Defensively our team shut down the Oyster Bay offense by limiting them to less than 20 yards total offense and no first downs. Jacob Silverman, Joseph Kim, Eric Gotlieb, Jay Tenem, Kevin Glasgow and Robert Cosgrove were outstanding on defense. Jimmy Corcoran had a punt return of over 45 yards to bring us to the Oyster Bay 10-yard line just as time ran out in the game.

The Syosset Braves White played Bayville Sunday to a tie in their home opener in a tough defensive battle. Syosset scored on its second possession in the first quarter with a 55-yard reverse by Mike Nepatolano making the score 6-0. Bayville came right back with a 45-yard run tying the score before the half. A pass interception by Nick Sammantano followed by a 35-yard quarterback end around by Billy Reggio brought Syosset deep into Bayville territory. A well coordinated offensive attack led by key blocks administered by guards Steve Bartolomeo and Brian Gildea, ends Jimmy Cameron and Brian Graney brought Syosset to within the 5-yard line but could not get into the end zone.

The second half saw repeated Bayville drives against a rock solid Syosset defensive line anchored by linemen, Andrew Lombardi, Nick Sammantano and Joey Portella. The defensive linebacker core lead by veterans Brian Green and John Beers with strong assistance by rookie safety Anthony Rivelli stopped the attack cold.

When Bayville finally tried to use their speed around the ends they found the going nowhere with roadblocks by Brendon Baynes and Jarrad Kuszek.

Late in the third quarter a Syosset fumble could have proven to be disastrous had is not been for a quick recovery by center Michael Romano well behind the line of scrimmage. During the game several key tackles by Matt Reggio, Brian Green and Mike Napolitiano stopped what might have otherwise been long Bayville yard gainers.
