Salil Zaveri, founder of allthestores.com, an online shopping mall, was the guest speaker at the August 8 Syosset Chamber of Commerce meeting.

Allthestores.com sells a variety of products and services and receives a commission on products purchased from merchants on its site. Zaveri explained to chamber members at the meeting that if someone has a product that they would like to sell and Zaveri is interested in it, allthestores.com will buy the product wholesale, promote it and sell it on the website. "Allthestores.com becomes the distributor," said Zaveri.

Zaveri also explained that his site helps not-for-profit agencies as well, and there are ways that the site can help the chamber of commerce. "We can give the chamber a coupon code and when someone buys a product from the website, they use that code and get five percent off their purchase," he said. "Then a percentage gets kicked back to the chamber as well. It is a win-win situation." There will be future conversations between Zaveri and chamber president Jerry Siegel concerning the chamber getting involved with the site and having any profits made benefit the chamber.

Zaveri explained to the chamber members how his website can help them with their individual business. "A small hardware company, for example, might have a product to sell," said Zaveri. "They can put that product on our website and they make money when it sells."

According to Zaveri, the product is listed with a description, but there is no mention where the product is coming from. "Right now Syosset is buying Syosset, but they can be a marketplace to the world," said Zaveri.

There is no fee to the store or person to list a product on Allthestores.com, according to Zaveri. "If we like your product we will sell it," he said.

Zaveri also spoke about affiliate programs that are available. He explained that when someone logs onto a website, allthestores.com for example, and sees an advertisement flashing on the screen, that is an affiliate of the website. If someone clicks on that advertisement and purchases something or signs up for a program, allthestores.com will receive commission and the patron, in most cases, will receive special offers. "If you are thinking of creating an affiliate program, your website banner will be placed on other websites," said Zaveri.
