I was very pleased to see the article about the Pearl and Jack Ain Clinic beginning construction at Nassau AHRC. (AHRC Adds New Clinic; July 19, 2002) I was privileged to get to know the Ains when I worked at the Nassau AHRC and their generosity and kindness is overwhelming.

Although the majority of the individuals serving on the Board of Nassau AHRC are themselves parents or family members of someone with a developmental disability, the Ains were blessed with five wonderful, healthy children (now grown) and over a dozen healthy grandchildren. Jack Ain heard the founder of Nassau AHRC, Helen Kaplan, speak at a community meeting over 50 years ago and from then on he gave his heart and soul to the children and adults served by Nassau AHRC.

I am sure that the individuals served by Nassau AHRC will deeply appreciate this clinic that will serve their special needs. But the greatest gift that the Ains have given to AHRC is their love and friendship.
