The sixth-grade mini-olympics were held on the field of the Jericho Middle/High School, June 10, after having been postponed from the previous week due to inclement weather. The weather was perfect, the students were excited and worked hard. The teams emerged from school onto the field in a parade of colors and homemade banners.

Each of the 12 classes represented a different country. Students participated in morning events of their choice, including the 55-meter dash, the 100-meter dash, and the 200-meter dash; the softball throw and ring toss; and the high jump and long jump. After a lunch on the bleachers, the games continued with a relay race and a baton relay.

When not participating in an event, many of the students cheered for their teammates. Musical support was provided by the sixth-grade ensemble.

Principal, Mrs. Cecile Wren, wound up the mini-olympics thanking Anthony Cambria, athletic director, for his 22 years of dedicated service.
