Syosset School District residents showed strong support for the 2002-2003 Syosset Central School District budget voting in favor of the proposed budget at a rate of two to one. Incumbents Maria Anderson, Anthony Alizzi and Ellen Meller were each re-elected to the board for another three-year term.

"It's very rewarding to know that the residents of this community support our efforts to provide the best possible education for our students," said Board Presidents Janet Cox. "They have the pledge of the entire board that we will continue to keep quality education our highest priority."

Superintendent Dr. Carole G. Hankin was very pleased with the election results. "We have a great many programs and innovations planned for our students for the upcoming year. With the budget approved we can now move ahead with these plans. We are thankful to have the cooperation of our parents, teachers, administrators, staff, community residents and students and the leadership of our board of education that all work to make the Syosset the award-winning district that it is," she said.

The Syosset Public Library budget passed with 2,237 yes and 851 no votes. As for the library board elections, incumbent Elaine Gainor was re-elected to a five year term with 1,588 votes defeating William Kaas who received 852 votes. Robert McCullough received 1,533 votes and was elected to a three-year term defeating Henry Yen who received 924 votes.
