Syosset Schools Wins the New York State Arts in Education Award
Syosset Schools Superintendent Dr. Carole G. Hankin recently announced the district's winning of the 2002 New York State Alliance for Arts Education Annual School Board Recognition for Arts Education Leadership Award. As winner of the state award, Syosset School District has been nominated as New York's entry for the Kennedy Center Alliance for Arts Education and National School Boards Association Award.
Town of Oyster Bay Board Members Sworn in to Office
Master of Ceremonies Councilman Joseph Muscarella started the afternoon with both wit and wisdom. He spoke of the importance of the Town of Oyster Bay Board and the many responsibilities that come with the title. "We are public servants," said Muscarella. "We are not above the public and not equal to them either. We are here to serve the public."
Syosset Braves Start Season with Victory
The Syosset Braves started their basketball season with a 66-56 victory over Mepham High School last Thursday. The Braves started the game off with anxiousness and made some mental mistakes, which led to numerous turnovers, but by the middle of the first quarter they gained confidence and took over the game.
Jericho Lacrosse Spring Sign-up
During the first session of the Long Island Indoor Lacrosse winter session, the fifth and sixth-grade Jericho Lacrosse Club shocked the top Long Island teams by easily defeating teams from Huntington, Seaford, North Babylon and Bellmore/Merrick. Having one of the few successful Lacrosse Fall programs on the Island has really helped the kids hone their skills and it seems to be paying off.
