Family, friends and members of the Jericho School community gathered on Nov. 30 to dedicate an outdoor picnic area in memory of Allison Leopold. Allison, who was a kindergartner at the Robert Seaman Elementary School, passed away on Jan. 6, 2001. The dedication ceremony was the culmination of a yearlong effort by the Seaman PTA.

At the request of Seaman parents, a memorial fund was set up by the PTA in Allison's name. Jane Zwilling and Linda Tolkin coordinated the collection of funds for the PTA over the past year. The PTA, school and Allison's family decided together how the funds would best be utilized. A picnic area was chosen because of Allison's love for the outdoors.

A scholarship fund has also been established at Jericho High School in memory of Allison's mother Rhonda Katz/Leopold who died with Allison last year.
