Hornets Defeat Celtics in Tough Match
In one of the most exciting intramural basketball games this season, two undefeated teams played a very evenly matched game. The Celtics, led by newcomer Alex Heffner (10 points) and veterans Ryan Gillece (9 points) and Zachary Jenis (8 points) led at the half 20-18. Superb rebounding and defense by the Hornet's Marc Rosenberg (10 rebounds) and Michael Guerrero (8 rebounds) prevented the Celtics from pulling away as the teams played neck and neck with the lead alternating and never exceeding six points. The third quarter ended with the Celtics ahead 30-29, but the Hornets dominated the last quarter led by the strong outside shooting of Jonathan Roach (20 points) and all-around play of Danny Kanzer (10 points) as their unselfish play catapulted them to victory. The final score was Hornets 49 and the Celtics 39.
