On Tuesday Dec. 11, the residents of the Jericho Fire District will be casting their ballots for this year's elections for the Board of Fire Commissioners. I would like to take this opportunity express my support for the incumbent, Commissioner David Munafo.

Commissioner Munafo has been involved with the fire service for over 27 years, and has the knowledge and experience that makes him well qualified for the position of fire commissioner. I have been in the Chief's Office of the Jericho Fire Department for five years, and have enjoyed working together with Commissioner Munafo on various projects that have directly benefited the residents of the Jericho Fire District. One of which, the purchase of Automatic External Defibrillators (AED's) have enabled the department to issue these life saving devices to members to carry in their personal vehicles to bring an important new technology closer to the residents of the community we serve.

Commissioner Munafo, most recently, was also a leading advocate for the purchase of two new thermal imaging cameras now in service on department apparatus. These cameras enable firefighters to see through the smoky conditions of a fire to help quickly locate its victims. Commissioner Munafo has a strong ability to balance the needs of the membership of the Jericho Fire Department, while keeping a responsibility to the taxpayers of the Jericho Fire District.

I strongly urge all residents to come out to fire headquarters on North Broadway on Tuesday Dec. 11, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. to re-elect Commissioner David Munafo to the Board of Fire Commissioners.
