Alzheimer's Association Receives Grant to Service Nassau County
The Alzheimer's Association, Long Island Chapter recently received grant funding under the Title IIIE of the Older Americans Act, which allows the chapter to offer non-medical respite to families in need of a break. This respite program offers free assistance to residents of Nassau County in dealing with the caregiving responsibilities of their loved ones who suffer with Alzheimer's or a related dementia.

Jericho Resident to Carry Olympic Torch
Jericho resident Bob Hoffman was recently selected to carry the 2002 Winter Olympic torch on Dec. 23 in the New York City area and his approximately one-mile run will be dedicated to all those who lost their lives on Sept. 11.

Town Honors Jim Schisgall
Town of Oyster Bay Supervisor John Venditto, Councilman Angelo Delligatti and Councilman Leonard Symons recently presented a memorial Town Citation to Mary Beth Schisgall to honor her husband Jim's contributions, tireless efforts and great devotion to the Syosset Baseball Association and community during the Association's Annual Election Eve Baseball Dinner. Jim was a longtime member of the Syosset Baseball Association Board of Directors.

JAA Continuing Track and Field Program with Jericho Jets
The Jericho Jets Winter indoor track season started on Nov. 15. All boys and girls are welcome. The program is for children of all levels of ability. Indoor meets to be held at Suffolk Community College, SUNY Farmingdale and Nassau Community College indoor tracks:
