After a delayed start, the Syosset U10 boys Lightning team came out of the gate running. Philip Rosenberg and Adam Krochak were human backboards on defense, reversing every ball that came their way back towards the offense. The Lightning drew first blood when Aaron Dorfman scored a goal with a penalty kick from the right side. Alex Locke, the king of slide tackles, continually stopped Oceanside's momentum sacrificing his body whenever he pursued an opponent. The half closed with Syosset leading 1-0.

Early in the second half, Shyan Kashani, the goalkeeper came up with a huge save on a 10 ft. direct penalty kick to preserve the lead. Jake Weinreb fearlessly led the offensive charge taking elbows to the chest and face and staying in the game.

Kevin Stanton anchored the left side consistently sending centering passes in front of the goal. Despite continued offensive pressure, a 1-0 lead was maintained throughout the second half in this close contest. This team effort brought a hard fought victory over a growing friendly rivalry with the Oceanside team.
