With a dramatic, big league-style play at the plate, CPASRUS edged The Bombers in a hard-fought 12-11 classic that had fans biting their nails over six thrilling innings on May 9 at Baylis. With split-second reactions, Cathy Tang of The Bombers dashed in from third to cover the plate as Lily Mummert of CPASRUS slipped under the tag with the winning run. The crowd erupted with whoops and shouts as the teams lined up for handshakes in a game that was marked by brilliant defensive plays that staunched one rally after another.
The win moved CPASRUS to 3-0 in the National Division of the SYAC Cub League, while The Bombers fell to 2-1.
Outstanding on defense for The Bombers were Cathy and Nicole Tang and Nicole Rooney, who all made putouts and contributed accurate throws to Hannah Lafferty at first. In what may have been the "SYAC Play of the Day," Cathy Tang hauled in a bases-full pop fly, spun around and stepped on third to erase a runner who had advanced toward home. However, Tang narrowly missed an unassisted triple play, as she dropped the ball in pursuit of a runner who scurried back to second.
Providing the punch for CPASRUS were Dana Starrantino, who drove in four runs, as well as Jessica Caplan, who drove in three runs, and Danielle Kass, who drove in two. Lily Mummert stroked four hits and scored three runs, and Zoe Saunders had three hits and an RBI.

Powered by the offense of Cathy and Nikki Tang, Nicole Rooney and Laura Cusenza, The Bombers defeated Access Staffing by a score of 18 to 6. Superb defense playing by Cathy Tang and Hannah Lafferty.
The girls of Sluggers.com continue to find new ways to win, extending their winning streak to three games with a 13-4 victory over the LI Sluggers. Courtney Baymack led the offensive attack with three hits, after earning the third spot in the order with a great hitting practice session. Jamie Cohen made it to the game on time, and chipped in with two singles and inspired play ground first base. Arielle Margolin and Kaitlin Wisnieski also had two singles apiece.
The LI Sluggers kept it closer than the score indicated. Danielle Marlow had a great stint as a relief pitcher and reached base twice in two at bats. Amanda Fields, Marisa Tristani also contributed to the offense. Lauren Gulamerian proved that a walk is as good as a hit by reaching base twice on free passes.
