  • NEWS: Nassau Democrats Choose DiNapoli

    Assemblyman Thomas DiNapoli is officially the Democrats' choice for Nassau County executive come the November election. NYS Assemblyman DiNapoli came out way on top at the Nassau County Democratic Party Convention last Wednesday night, May 9. He defeated opponent Glen Cove Mayor Tom Suozzi with 65 percent of the votes. But even before the convention convened, Mayor Suozzi stated that, no matter what happened that evening, he would enter the September primary. And as the votes were being called on the floor, Mayor Suozzi made his way through the crowd asking for support ''when I win the primary in September.'' FULL STORY

  • SPORTS: Sixth Grade Boys Baseball News

    On May 12, a picture perfect Saturday evening at Syosset-Woodbury Park, Max Rosenberg of the Yankees and Conor Tolkin of the Royals hooked up in a memorable pitcher's duel, with the Yankees ultimately prevailing 4-3. Both pitchers were outstanding, as Rosenberg gave up only seven hits and struck out 12 Royals, while Tolkin was just as dominant, giving up eight hits and striking out 10 Yankees. In addition to the outstanding pitching, the game will be just as memorable for all those in attendance for a fence clearing home run driven by Matt Checkla for the game's first run. The official statistician for the game estimated the home run as a 225-foot monster shot. FULL STORY

    With a dramatic, big league-style play at the plate, CPASRUS edged The Bombers in a hard-fought 12-11 classic that had fans biting their nails over six thrilling innings on May 9 at Baylis. With split-second reactions, Cathy Tang of The Bombers dashed in from third to cover the plate as Lily Mummert of CPASRUS slipped under the tag with the winning run. The crowd erupted with whoops and shouts as the teams lined up for handshakes in a game that was marked by brilliant defensive plays that staunched one rally after another. FULL STORY
