The Syosset Sparks U-12 Girls soccer team began the season on an up note with a well played 0 - 0 tie with Smithtown. Moving up the division ladder to Division 2 this season, the Sparks played this game with only one substitute due to a series of injuries as well as a religious obligation. The game was affected by strong winds that hampered both team's efforts.

Due to the injuries, many of the Sparks were asked to play unfamiliar positions and they all did it with terrific results. Dani Goodwin was tremendous at fullback as was Sammie Spira-Bauer and Michelle Zar. Lauren Liebling played a strong sweeper assisted by stopper Kim Sumcizk. Stephanie Sumcizk played her usual solid game in goal stopping everything that came her way as well as keying several scoring opportunities with her superior kicking abilities.

Lauren Salzman, Jamie Weisfogel, Andrea Hoda and Jenna Kogan were keys to the Sparks' scoring opportunities having great games in the midfield. They helped control the game as did Melissa Matos and Jenna Tyrangel at striker. A speedy recovery is wished for Sarina Paty, Tori Levine and Lizzy Weinstraub.
