The RTS Funding Spurs defeated the Nets 35-27 in a thrilling game played at the Jackson School. The Spurs were invigorated by the successful return to the lineup of Mo Green, who had six points and 15 rebounds in his first game back from a foot injury.
Robert Heimowitz led the Spurs with 11 points and solid playmaking. Jason Leeds, Jesse Chazen and Jason Shinners all had six points each. The Spurs defense was led by Chazen and Brian Heimowitz, both of whom held their men scoreless, and Cory Toporovsky who had four steals. The Spurs played with great teamwork throughout the game.
The Nets got solid games from Brandon First, Michael Regan and Waleed Fazal. The game was in doubt until the very last minute when the Spurs pulled away late to the victory. The gym was packed to see these two top level contenders vie for a top spot in the division. As the season wraps up, the Spurs and Nets both are looking to finish strongly.
