The three young men are members of the Jericho Stock Market Club. Under the guidance of teacher Ed Klobus, more than 30 students meet every Thursday morning before school. This is one of two stock market tournaments that club members are encouraged to participate in. The second tournament is sponsored by Newsday and begins later in the school year.
The team, known as Jericho Rulers, earned impressive returns during the competition. While the S & P 500 return was listed at -5.52 percent, the Jericho team earned 23.37 percent. Their biggest winner was the stock Broadcom Corp., which earned the team a 56 percent return on their investment.
