As a finale to the successful fall program, the 5th/6th Grade Jericho Lacrosse Club played a tight match with an undefeated Plainview team, losing in the last few minutes of play, 1-0. "At this point, you can see by our level of play, that the Jericho kids are among some of the best on the Island and as a team we can play against any of the elite communities," said Buddy Anscher, a coach with Jericho. "We had a program of over 60 kids from grades K-6 show up for our fall program which now reflects the commitment the community has to the sport."

The sign-up now continues for the spring program, which starts in March. It consists of clinics for grades K-2 and two travel teams for the 3rd/4th grade and 5th/6th grade. The 3rd/4th-grade team, which led the division in 2000, is a great starting point for kids to be introduced to the full excitement of a "real game" experience. All levels from beginners to experts are accepted. Applications can be printed from the www.11753.com website. For questions, you may call Dan Feinstein at 626-6694, Buddy Anscher at 921-8216 or Frank Sammartano at 681-4371. If you have any questions, there will be a sign-up at Jackson Elementary school from 7-8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 25 and Tuesday, Feb. 6.
