The World Wide Web has made it easier for people to re-establish contact with their old friends and classmates. Several Syosset High School alumni have taken advantage of the opportunity by creating nonprofit websites that focus on Syosset and Syosset High School alumni.

In 1997, John Delin, a 1960 graduate from Syosset High School, was helping plan the reunion for the classes of 1959 - 1963. As he was doing the research, he found himself often turning to the Internet for information on graduates.

In July of 1998, he decided to create a website on America On-line informing people about the reunion and after the reunion he put pictures on the site. "It was rudimentary because I did not really know what I was doing at the time," said Delin. "It was very popular though." This site, which is still in existence at http://members.aol.com/olofblue/, highlights reunions and features current photographs of alumni

Delin then connected with Pamela Boslet, a 1963 graduate of Syosset High. Since they both had done some writing in the past, Boslet suggested they start a non-profit website magazine together, which they decided to call ken*again. ken* has been the literary magazine of Syosset High School since 1961. Available only on the Web, the site offers prose, poetry, art and cartoons. The fourth issue of this quarterly, located at http://kenagain.freeservers.com, will come out in February 2001.

Delin and Boslet's original goal was to have people from Syosset High School contribute to the on-line publication. Although Syosset alumni do contribute, now people from all around the world do as well. The next issue of ken*again will feature a writer from India and an American who teaches in Saudi Arabia.

In December 1999, Pam, who resides in New Jersey with her husband and children, had the idea, since she has so many old photographs of Syosset, to start a website concentrating on the rich history Syosset has to offer. The Syosset Scrapbook was recently launched to show the beauty of Syosset's past. The site, which can be found at http://syossetscrapbook.freeservers.com, displays rare and beautiful scenes of old Syosset with some new pictures as a contrast.

Pam's old glasses from Dr. Freeman's office were scanned as well as Delin's High School Letter. There are also pictures of old Memorial Days and pictures of the old railroad station from the 1800's. Pam's late father, Robert Boslet, was the Syosset Postmaster for many years.

"We have gotten a lot of feedback raving about the site," said Delin, who lives in Staten Island with his wife and children.

Rob Giordano, Syosset High School class of 1967, also maintains a website called Syosset Rules (http://www.siriussystems.com/syosset.htm), which is an eclectic mix of old and new photos, recent pictures of alumni, plus music and humor.

Hal Muskat's (SHS '65) website, Rainbow Puddle Liquid Light Psychedelic Lightshow Projections (http://www.rainbowpuddle.com/syosset65reunion.html), features Syosset High School reunions, wonderful old photographs and biographies of SHS alumni.

Current residents of Syosset--both newcomers and those who have lived there for a lifetime--will enjoy these websites. And those alumni who now live around the country or around the world will be, at least for a few moments, brought back home.
