Sunday, Dec. 3, a day that will live in slothfulness!

No plans, no dates, no projects, no museums, no plays, no grandkids, no responsibilities, nothing!

After a late Saturday night, which included a superb college production of The Iphigenia Defense at C.W. Post and a birthday party for beloved Susan Greene, I was pooped. I looked forward to a Sunday, lying supine on my green couch and moving only to enter the kitchen to retrieve snacks and goodies.

The only negative on the horizon was that it was such a beautiful, but cold, autumn day with the sun shining brightly.

The overwhelming positive was that there was a great sports television day coming in on the tube. At 1 p.m. on Channel 5 the NY Giants played the Washington Redskins and on ESPN Andre Agassi was playing Gustavo Kuerten for the number one position in the world in tennis, simultaneously. I knew there would be a great deal of channel switching and surfing. It would take great skill to maneuver between a great tennis match and a great game of football. The clicker had to work overtime.

At 3 p.m. my favorite college basketball team, St. John's, arrived on MSG. They had to be worked into the rotation of sporting events. The remote control was in my right hand, operating feverishly.

At 4:15 p.m. it was the Indianapolis Colts versus the NY Jets playing for a playoff position. Could anything be better? Great games and plenty of potato chips, pistachio nuts, pretzels, cranberry juice and soda in the kitchen. Perfect!

What I have just described is called by the youngsters "vegging out." It refers to doing "nada" or nothing.

Normally I am an activist, doing too many things simultaneously. I enjoyed being a "vegetable" on Dec. 3. It took a little work using the remote but it was relaxing. A great day!

Oh, yes, the scores: Giants 9 Redskins 7

Kuerten beat Agassi 6-4, 6-4, 6-4

St. John's beat Michigan 97-83

NY Jets 27- Colts 17
