Johh Sohl, 54, of Syosset, died on Nov. 23, 2000. He was born on April 5, 1946 to Mary (nee Davidson) and John Sohl Sr. He graduated from SUNY Stony Brook and taught German at Nassau Community College and English as a Second Language in the Hicksville Adult Education Program. He also taught German and Spanish at Brookside Junior High School, Merrick.

Mr. Sohl was involved with LI's German-American community and was a founder and leader of Dev. Heimatstamm. He became a member of AAKP, LI Chapter, after he had a kidney transplant. He worked to help kidney patients and served as the chapter's executive director from 1988 to 1991.

Mr. Sohl is survived by his wife Barbara (Becht); sister Betty Walters; brother Robert Sohl; his uncle Henry; 15 nieces and nephews; 16 great-nieces and nephews; three great-great-nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog Casey.

Arrangements were made by the Beney Funeral Home, Syosset. Cremation private. Interment will be a St. John's Memorial Cemetery at a future date.
