The fourth week of the season was another exciting and action-packed weekend for the Syosset Braves youth football teams. The day-to-day activities of this greatly expanded league continue to run smoothly thanks to the ongoing management and leadership of the Chief Administrative Officer Sharmon Hicks.

The Pee Wee Braves (7-8-year-olds) lost a tough game to North Babylon by the score of 12-0. The stingy Braves defense played a spirited game. Joe Gallo, Aaron Kuczek, Brendan Kennedy, Justin Cassandro, Michael Nocita, Thomas Palumbo and Thomas Maggio turned in outstanding performances. The Pee Wee Braves are back at home next Sunday versus the Bethpage Panthers.

The Syosset Braves Midget White team (9-10-year-olds) took on their cross town rivals the Bethpage Panthers. Midget White dominated the line of scrimmage and beat the Panthers by a score of 25 - 13, improving their record to 2-2. Quarterback Mikhal Polan and their two wing backs Justin Keats and Michael Napolitano led the offense. Justin had three 50+ yard touchdown runs and Michael scored the other touchdown on a 40-yard run. Mark Luccarelli, John Beers, Jacob Silverman and Clayton Hicks led the hard hitting defense.

Syosset Braves Midget Black lost to Brentwood 19-0 on Oct. 1. Jeff Cohen and Jordan Rodriquez had a good game offensively while Robert Cosgrove, Jeffrey Lee, Chris Tortora and Matt Stock played tough on defense.

The Midget Red team played a tough game on Sunday against the Plainedge Red Football team. Both teams played a hard-hitting game, unfortunately, the Braves came up short. The offensive and defensive lines, led by John Abbate, Jake Bryne, Nick San Martano, Brian Gildea, Teddy Nocieta, Timmy Lyons and Andrew Lombardi did a great job in the trenches. The offense, led by Billy Reggio, Robby Nuzzolese, Kurt Beers and Brian Greene, had several sustained drives but could not punch it into the end zone. The Midget Red team will continue their season on the road next Sunday against Wantagh.

Ina defensive battle against North Amityville, the Syosset Pony Red Team (11- 12-year-olds) was led by their game captains Brian Bergin, Paul Laruccia and Paul Gulamerian. North Amityville decided the game on two big plays. Despite their best efforts, the Pony Red team lost 20-0 and they are looking forward to their first victory next Sunday against the Bethpage Panthers.

The Pony White team played against a hard hitting Wantagh team. Wantagh on the first possession of the game went 46 yards for a score. This touchdown set the tone for this hard fought game. Wantagh score three more times in the first half to make the score 32-0. The Braves didn't give up and they did a great job of stopping Wantagh in the second half. Vinny Nuzzolese, Scott Fialkoff, Jason Hunte and Peter Grella led the second half defense charge. The Braves scored in the fourth quarter on a 47-yard quarterback sweep by Dan Treacy with lead blocking from Dan Desimone, Kerim Tulun and Nick Fischer. The final score was 32-7 Wantagh.

The Syosset Youth Football League invites the community to join them in supporting the Syosset High School Varsity Football team at their Homecoming Game on Saturday Oct. 7 at 2 p.m. Let's go Braves.
