I am writing this letter in response to Jack Kennedy's (president of the Nassau-Suffolk Building Trades) concern for the union families all over Long Island (Aug. 18 edition of Syosset-Jericho Tribune). What about the families of Jericho and Syosset? With the Long Island Expressway improvement and other major construction projects being fueled by a strong economy, is there any shortage of construction jobs?

I would like to know just how many non-union contractors would be allowed to participate in the construction of this mall on the Cerro Wire property. I am talking about the non-union contractors who feed Long Island families and pay Long Island taxes.

Kennedy and his councils' thinking are too self-fulfilling and short term.
