Syosset's Top Three Prepare for Future
Syosset High School's top three graduates have been selected for the class of 2000. Valedictorian Adam Taubman and Salutatorian Dina Ismail will attend Yale University in September and Salutatorian Michael Grabarz will attend Duke University. They bring with them a long list of honors and achievements.

Syosset High School junior, Rachel Stanton, has been awarded first prize in the eighth annual New York Council for the Humanities' Young Scholars Competition.

Local Hoops Player on State Championship Team
Jessica Steller, a fifth grade student at the Green Vale School, is playing basketball on the Long Island Lightning Girls 10 and under A.A.U. basketball team that just last month took the number one spot in New York State. In the State Regionals in Staten Island they defeated the Staten Island Rebels by a score of 47 to 30. That game brought their record to 17-0 and qualified them for the National Tournament to be played in July in Florida. The Long Island Lightning is based out of the Island Garden in West Hempstead. Steller, a resident of Muttontown, tried out for the team in February after playing on her school's team and a CYO team.

Lewis Recipient of the Memorial Scholarship
Jarrad Lewis, a graduating senior at Syosset High School and a member of the Syosset High School basketball team, received the Rick Machol Foundation Basketball Scholarship Award at the school's spring sports award night. Lewis will be attending the University of Maryland in the fall. He received a check for $1,000 and his name was added to the Rick Machol Foundation plaque which is in the school's trophy case.
