Marcellino Amends Neighbor Notification Legislation for Statewide Option
State Senator Carl Marcellino (R, Syosset), chairman of the Senate Committee on Environmental Conservation, announced that his legislation, Senate Bill 2543-D, requiring 48-hour advance notice of pesticide spraying was unanimously passed by the Environmental Conservation Committee moving it to the Senate floor.

Welcome to Greenbelt Trails.... Watch Your Step
The Nassau-Suffolk Greenbelt Trail is a National Recreation Trail which offers hikers and bicyclists over 17 miles of trail throughout Long Island. Construction for land development just north of Jericho Turnpike in Woodbury that has been underway recently has cut into a portion of the bike trail. Bikers that attempt to ride the trail are bombarded with bulldozed land and trees blocking their path.

Syosset Basketball League
The Syosset Basketball League season was in full gear after the year-end holidays, highlighted by fierce competition in the fifth and sixth grade division. The Celtics won their straight game, nipping the Pistons in a nail-biting finish. Balanced scoring from Chris Zink (11 points), Marc Nelson and Dan Barcarvage (ten points each) led the Celtics attack. Scott Schwartz led the Pistons with 14 points.

Former Yankee Will Conduct Local Tryouts
Former New York Yankees and Mets pitcher Jack Aker will be holding tryouts for his winter indoor and spring travel baseball teams. The indoor team, for players aged 9 and 10, will play from Feb. to early April at Playball in Hauppauge. The spring travel teams, for players aged 10 and 11, will play from April through June against teams throughout Long Island.
