The Syosset Basketball League (SBL) is in full swing, with three teams tied for the 7th/8th Grade Division lead with 4-0 records. Fourteen teams are competing for March playoff berths.

In their season opener, the league-leading Hornets were led by Scott Fridkin's 16 points and Adam Gerstein's seven steals as they topped the Raptors 41-32. Matt Goldfarb led the Raptors with 16 points.

Jason Goldstein's outside shooting led the Hornets to their second victory, a 44-32 victory over the Knicks. The Knicks were led by Bret Goldstein's 16 points.

Ben Solof was a defensive standout when the Hornets beat the Jazz by the score of 35-26 for their third consecutive victory . Neil Zakin led the Jazz in scoring.
