The Project Care Committee of Jericho High School kicked off the holiday season with an afternoon of delicious treats, music and merriment. The festivities included a very special group of guests. Students shared their holiday party with senior citizen companions on Wednesday, Dec. 15, at Oyster Bay Manor in the Town of Oyster Bay.

Members of the Project Care Committee visit residents at Oyster Bay Manor once a week after school. Students read aloud, play games, help write letters and interact with many of the resident senior citizens. They also meet, as per class requirements, with advisors Richele Hohl and Dr. Stacey Schwartz weekly during their lunch period for supervision.

Students brought cookies, cakes and pies for an afternoon snack. Songs, music, games and dancing added to the festivities. A visit by an incredibly jolly and caring Santa, played by guidance counselor Scott Andrews, was a highlight for all present. The party was an opportunity for students to be sure that everyone at Oyster Bay Manor is remembered during the 1999 winter holiday season.
