An open general meeting of the members of the Oakwood - Princeton Park Civic Association (OPPCA) was held on Jan. 12 to discuss a variety of local community and regional issues affecting the health, safety and well-being of our neighborhood.
The following neighbors were nominated and unanimously re-elected to serve this community for the next two years as its OPPCA board of officers:
President - Joseph Lorintz
First Vice President - John Pi
Second President - Andrew Pfau
Treasurer - Mark Freudenthal
Financial Secretary - Jeffrey Haas
Recording Secretary - Laurel Fried
Corresponding Secretary - Rand Rosenbaum
To date, an unprecedented number of households have joined the OPPCA. Included within our annual $25 membership is a one-year home-delivery subscription to the Syosset-Jericho Tribune, in which we periodically update our neighbors about local issues in this column.
Each year, a majority of the remaining funds collected offset OPPCA operational and community-improvement expenses. The remainder is given as annual donations and scholarships to local organizations and causes including the Jericho Auxiliary Police, the Jericho School District and the Underhill Property Preservation Legal Defense Fund.
The OPPCA continues to lend its support to the needs and interests of established and recognized sister advocate organizations. A concerted effort is already in progress to form a coalition of such groups, whereby their combined representation will identify and address issues of common concern throughout residential and business areas of this region.
If you have not joined the OPPCA yet, please contact Joseph Lorintz or myself, so that you, too, can enjoy the benefits of and participate in our active organization.
Please keep an eye and ear open for future OPPCA updates and community news. Wishing you and yours a happy, healthy, safe and prosperous New Year!
