The St. Mary's Children and Family Services 5 Kilometer Run for children, held through the streets of Syosset, has become a very pleasant November tradition. Another tradition that is establishing itself as part of this event is Mike Anderson of Woodbury winning.

Anderson, back home for the Thanksgiving holiday from the University of Texas, where he is doing graduate work, scored as the overall winner of the event for the second year in a row on Saturday, Nov. 28. His time was a solid 17:10. Michele Hoheiser (20:00) of Huntington Station was the overall female winner, and 14-year-old Jesse Walsh of Huntington was the Wheelchair Champion.

All three winners are members of the Plainview-Old Bethpage Road Runners Club.
