Residents: How Much S-2 Much?
At a Town of Oyster Bay public hearing on Tuesday evening, June 16, most Woodbury residents had to agree that the 114-unit senior housing complex proposed for development on the Roman Catholic Church of the Holy Name of Jesus property, along Woodbury Road, in terms of aesthetics, architecture and amenities, was ahead of its time. But despite the praise the proposal received, residents expressed concern that this and future controversial senior housing projects may someday inundate their neighborhoods if the town does not set limitations and standards.

Traffic Signal Installed at Dangerous Intersection
The sounds of screeching and sirens, and the sight of scattered wreckage alongside homeowners' properties may finally disappear for neighbors living on Manetto Hill Road who for decades have lobbied for a traffic signal to safeguard a treacherous intersection.

Paul Varisano Scores Basketball Scholarship Awards
Paul Varisano, a graduating senior at Syosset High School and a member of the Syosset High School basketball team, received the Rick Machol Foundation Basketball Scholarship Award at the school's spring sports award night on June 3. Varisano, who will be attending Northeastern University in Boston in the fall, received a plaque and a check for $500. A large plaque was presented to Syosset High School's Athletic Director John Pappas and Coach Larry Lavane. The plaque will be placed in the school's trophy case.
