The Advance Tabco Marlins defeated the Harry Katz Carpet Diamondbacks in a terrific game on Friday, May 15 by the score of 11-8. The Diamondbacks scored 4 runs in the first 4 innings while shutting down the Marlins, taking their 4-0 lead into the 4th. The Diamondbacks were led by Daniel Wittick (3 for 4, homer, 4 RBIs), Harris Moore (3 for 4, 3 runs scored), Max Rosenberg (3 for 4, triple, 1 RBi), Lee Freilich (3 for 3), Ben Kapner (2 for 3, 1 RBI), and Harrison Katz (2 for 3).
The Marlins came storming back in the bottom of the 4th and broke through with 4 big runs to tie the score on hits by Adam Kronengold (1 for 2, sac fly, 2 RBIs), Evan Kirchblum (2 for 3, triple, 2 RBIs), Spencer Greenberg (3 for 3, 1 RBI), Adam Rotter (2 for 3, triple, 1 RBI), Brett Novick (2 for 3, 1 RBI), and Anthony Pusateri (1 for 3, 2 RBIs).
The Diamondbacks answered with 4 runs of their own in the top of the 5th on the big hits by Moore, Wittick, Rosenberg, Daniel Schneider (1 for 3, triple, 1 RBI), and Josh Lampert (1 for 3, 1 RBI). The Marlins broke the game open in the bottom of the 5th scoring 7 big runs highlighted by John Goldsmith's leadoff double (2 for 4, 1 run), and hits by Andrew Hutner (2 for 4, 1 RBI, Brian Harris (1 run), and Ryan Saunders (2 for 3, 1 RBI).
Both teams played marvelous defense to keep the score close. The Diamondbacks had terrific plays in the field by Wittick (centerfield and shortstop), Kapner (3rd base), Adam Feinstein (catcher), Andrew Mlotok (pitcher), and Max Horowitz (2nd base). The Marlins had great plays made by Hutner (shortstop), Harris (1st base), Greenberg (3rd base), and Kirchblum (2nd base). The Marlins executed their 5th double play of the season in this, only their 5th game.

The Marlins took an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning on hits by John Goldsmith (3 for 4, homer, 2 RBIs), Andrew Hutner (3 for 4, homer, 1 RBI), Brian Harris (3 for 4, 2 RBIs), and Adam Kronengold (3 for 3, sac fly, 4 RBIs).
The Yankees took the lead in the top of the 3rd by scoring 3 runs, powered by Jeremy Koenig (2 for 4, double, 2 RBIs), Jordan Abrams (2 for 4, 1 RBI), Kenny Greenblatt (2 for 4, 1 RBI), Chris Kraly (1 hit, RBI), Jared Bookman (3 for 4, homer, 1 RBI), and Travis Steir (double, RBI). The Marlins answered back with 2 runs in the bottom of the 3rd highlighted by Hutner's monster solo homer, and consecutive hits by Harris, Saunders, and Kronengold. The Yanks tied it up in the 4th on Adam Reisman's leadoff double and Abrams' RBI single. The Marlins snuffed out the rally by turning their 6th double play in as many games on Spencer Greenberg's terrific line drive catch and throw to 2nd.
The Marlins tried to pull away with 4 big runs in the bottom of the 4th on hits by Greenberg (double), Adam Rotter (2 for 3), Anthony Pusateri (2 for 3, RBI), Eric Elberg (RBI), and Ben Kreigel (2 for 3, RBI, 2 runs). The Yankees kept pace by scoring 3 in the top of the 5th on hits by Bookman, Ethan Hoch (2 for 4, double) Jacob Feinstein (2 for 4, 1 RBI), and a big 2-run double by Keonig.
After the Marlins scored again in the bottom of the 5th to make it 9-7, the Yankees answered back with Bookman's solo homer in the top of the 6th to make it a 1-run game once again. The Marlins finally broke it open with 4 runs in the bottom of the 6th on hits by Kreigel (who had his best game of the season), a 2-run homer by Goldsmith, hits by Harris and Saunders and a sac fly by Kronengold.
Both teams had phenomenal defensive plays, highlighted by the team's respective shortstops. Travis Steir made every play in the field for the Yankees and made it look easy. Andrew Hutner made spectacular plays for the Marlins as well.
