The Jericho 4th Grade Boys Travel Basketball Team was formed last fall and played together as a team for the first time this winter in the Super League Basketball League. They completed the season with an impressive 14 wins and 2 losses. the season started with eight straight wins before their first loss to the Bronx River Rats in week nine. The Jericho-River Rat game was very close, with each team trading leads throughout the game. The contest was finally decided in the last few minutes of the game with the River Rats prevailing 39-34.

Jericho finished the regular season with a record of 11-1, and then moved on to an exciting playoff run. The playoffs saw Jericho play some of their most exciting and challenging basketball of the season. After winning their first two games in the playoffs, Jericho came from 12 points down at half-time to win their semifinals matchup and play for the championship.

The championship game pitted the Bronx River Rats against Jericho one last time. The River Rats zone pressed Jericho from the tipoff to the end of the third quarter, putting tremendous pressure on the ball. Jericho countered with a man to man press in the second and third quarters. After three quarters of some of the most physical play of the season, two points only separated the teams. The final quarter of play saw the River Rats unleash a very suffocating half court zone defense and come away with the win. Jericho finished the playoffs with a thrilling second place.

Jericho was coached enthusiastically and with great interest by Coach Tommy and Coach Joey. The boys practiced and played hard at their weekly practices.

Most importantly, this Jericho team always played hard, had fun and began learning what it takes to play as a team.
