Anita Fay Hulley, of Syosset, died on March 25, 1998. She was born in McDonald, PA, the second child of Sylvester B. McCollough and Elsie B. Wiles McCollough. Her mother was a schoolteacher and moved frequently throughout her childhood between western Pennsylvania and eastern Ohio. Anita was both the president and the valedictorian of her graduating class at Parker City High School. After graduating from Grove City College in 1940 with a degree in business education, her first job was teaching high school business courses in her home town of Parker's Landing, PA. She married John R. Hulley in 1942.
Anita had many hobbies and interests and could converse extensively on world events. She enjoyed all kinds of needlework, crafts, travel and was especially known for her gardening expertise. She was active in many conservation and humanitarian organizations. She was also an active member of the Syosset Community Church since 1949. Anita is survived by a sister Lois Fern McCollough of Ellenton, PA; six children, Richard D. Hulley of Fairfield, IA, Ann Williams of Meredith, NH, Sue Gardner of Washington, VT, Robert C. Hulley of Syosset, Andrew J. Hulley of Huntington and Thomas M. Hulley of Fairfield, IA; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
