Paul Matthew O'Brien, 40, a resident of Hampton, CT, died on Jan. 25, 1998. He received a liver transplant on March 29 at the New England Medical Center at Tufts University in Boston, MA.

Paul was born on June 17, 1953 in Uniontown, PA. He was raised in Syosset from the age of 1 1/2 years and lived there until 1985. He graduated from Syosset High School in 1975. He was a member of the Syosset Little League, Spartan Teams and Boy Scout of America Troop 112. He attended Nassau Community College and SUNY Farmingdale. He was employed by Nassau Knolls Cemetery Association, Port Washington.

Paul moved to Hampton, CT in 1985. He married Helen Frappier in 1995. He owned and operated Yankee Way Landscaping and Yankee Disposal in Hampton. He was a volunteer at Perception House where he counseled and sponsored many AA Fellowship members.

Paul was predeceased in 1958 by his father John S. O'Brien. He is survived by his wife; his mother Eleanor and his stepfather Frederic Vernic Sr. of Syosset; two brothers, John T. O'Brien of E. Northport and Frederick C. Vernic of Willimantic, CT; two sisters, Coleen Cherici of Skokie, IL and Claudia S. Denson of Bailey, CO; and his aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held at the Potter Funeral Home, Willimantic, with Father Gerard Boulanger officiating. Paul was cremated. Part of his ashes will be buried in Colorado and the rest will be buried on his father's grave in Pennsylvania. The family suggests that donations be sent to Family Inn, PO box 1692 70 Seawall Ave., Brookline, Ma 02146. The Family Inn is a peaceful home away from home for families of those receiving organ transplants.

Catherine E. Bradley, of Woodbury formerly of Elmont, died on Jan. 31, 1998. Wife of the late Michael. Mother of John and Francis. Grandmother of Francis Jr., Shan and Kelly. Great-grandmother of seven. Arrangements were made by the Krauss Funeral Home, Franklin Square. Religious service. Funeral private.
