Reception for Sherry Schreiber, Tapestry Artist

December 4

Sherry Schreiber, Tapestry Artist

Tapestry art work by Sherry Schreiber will be exhibited in the library’s art gallery through Dec. 28. Reception: Dec. 14, 2-4 p.m.; open to the public. Tapestry weaving is like translating from one language to another. In order to make this transition from her source of inspiration, a pastel drawing is executed first. A synthesis occurs during this preliminary step. Then the outlines are rendered onto graph paper. The entire piece is not visible all at once, as the woven part rolled onto weft beam of the loom. “One could say that my tapestries are paintings done in yarn, though I believe that they are experienced in a more alive and luminous form than painting,” says Schreiber.
