Much as we remember the teachers who most impressed us in our school days, the athletic stars of our youth also resonate in our memories. Roslyn resident and attorney Bob Sack, a member of the basketball Hall of Fame at Hunter College, is one such athlete. Back in the day, when Sack was a hot shooting forward for Hunter, he so impressed future Fox Sports commentator Charley Rosen that Rosen recently referred to him in one of his columns.
Sack, a partner at the New York law firm of Salenger, Sack, Schwartz & Kimmel, LLP (SSS&K), can now add Charley Rosen to those who admire his work.
“Bobby Sack is a highly respected New York lawyer,” wrote Rosen. “But before he became a barrister, he was a hot-shooting forward, and one of my most treasured basketball buddies…corner shots, sturdy screens and a working knowledge of the game were his primary assets.”
Rosen went on to describe the time Bob Sack showed up at a practice of the Albany Patroons of the Continental Basketball Association (CBA) while in town for a trial. Despite being clad in full attorney regalia, from suit to cufflinks to “shiny city shoes,” Sack couldn’t just sit and watch, but during a water break, grabbed a ball and sunk one shot after the other from the corner to the applause of the players.
In his more sedate incarnation as an attorney, Sack, a founding partner at SSS&K, is in charge of the firm’s daily operations and supervises all cases, providing advice and strategy for clients and firm colleagues alike. SSS&K, which concentrates its practice in personal injury and medical malpractice, has been consistently recognized for its experience, ethical standards, integrity and overall professional excellence. Martindale-Hubbell regularly awards SSS&K with the highest rating available to law
firms in New York State and the widely read business publication Long Island Business News selected SSS&K as “Best Litigation Firm on Long Island.” In addition to its Manhattan office, SSS&K also operates in Woodbury.
“Much like he did on the Hunter College basketball squad, Bob plays an invaluable role in every case that comes into this office,” said Marvin Salenger, longtime friend and law partner with Sack. “The depth of his experience, combined with a strong hands-on approach and personal attention to each client, directs cases towards speedy and positive resolutions.”
Prior to starting the firm, Bob Sack honed his skills in the profession while working first as a claims adjuster, and later as a defense attorney for a leading insurance company. He served as an arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association and was appointed to the Board of Governors of the Association of Trial Lawyers of the City of New York.
A graduate of Brooklyn Law School, Sack is admitted to the Bar in New York and the United States Federal Courts. He is a member of the New York State Bar Association, Bronx Bar Association, New York State Trial Lawyers Association and Association of Trial Lawyers of New York City. He was also an Adjunct Professor of Business Law at Queensborough Community College.
