Barracudas Top Stingrays in Exciting Swimming Action

At the December 6 swim meet against the Bensonhurst Stingrays, the Sid Jacobson Barracudas were able to take first place in every category. While there were no competitors in some categories, in the categories where all lanes were taken, the Barracudas were able to maintain their competitive edge and come out ahead.  Some of the highlights of the meet were:

Women 9-10 50 Fly- Deborah Meirowitz and Marlee Singer were strong from start to finish and ended up taking first and second place respectively.

Women 11-12 50 Fly- Marisa Struhl, Mia Berkman-Crowley and Morgan Shaw were first, second and third places out of five lanes.

Men 9-10 50 Back- Jordan Friedman took the lead at the half and never let up to finish first.

Women 11-12 50 Back- Alison Rourke had a strong start and was able to finish first six yards ahead of her competitor.

Men 13-14 100 Back- Gavin Walsh took first place effortlessly against 2 competitors.

Women 9-10 100 Intermediate- Deborah Meirowitz and Saanchi Kukadia were both ahead after 25 yards and finish 1st and 2nd respectively.

Women 11-12 100 Intermediate- Rachel Clive was ahead after 25 yards and maintained her lead to take first out of five swimmers.

Men 8 & Under 25 Breast- Kevin Doyle took first in a close race.

Women 9-10 50 Breast- Marlee Singer and Saanchi Kukadia were close from beginning to end and ended up taking first and second respectively.

Women 11-12 50 Breast- Mary Doyle, Pheobe Menaker and Isabelle Fagen were first, second, and third place in one of the few races where all 6 lanes were used.

Women 13-14 100 Breast- Lauren Tierney pulled ahead at the last 5 yards to take first place over fellow teammate Margaret Pegno.

Men 13-14 100 Breast- Gavin Walsh and Robert Godfried were neck to neck throughout but Gavin was able to finish first.

Men 8 & Under Free- Peter Doyle and August Zeidman were first and second respectively.

Women 9-10 Free- Saanchi Kukadia was able to take first place for the Barracudas in a tough race.

Men 9-10 Free- Harrison Berger was terrific at the last 10 yards to take first place.

Women 11-12 50 Free- Alison Rourke, Addie Midgen and Phoebe Menaker were first, second, and third place in a full race.
