On Sunday, Oct. 27, beginning at 8 a.m., the Roslyn Chamber of Commerce is hosting a 4K Clock Tower Trot.
The runners will meet on that date at the Ellen E. Ward Clock Tower for the race to begin. The scenic race runs along ah historic stretch of Hempstead Harbor, past dozens of historic homes from nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, including circa 1680 Van Nostrand-Starkins House, one of the oldest homes on Long Island. The race will proceed along Gerry Park, now complete with the Horse Tamer statue, before concluding at the famous Ellen E. Ward Clock Tower, the symbol of the village itself.
There will be medals for top finishers in various age categories.
Fees for the race are as follows:
• Ten dollars for Fun Run/Walk - 4K, $25 day of race. Fee includes participant bib and T-shirt.
• Ten dollars for Fun Run/Walk - 2K, $15 day of race. Fee includes participant bib and T-shirt.
Also for the race, there will be a police controlled routes. In addition to the race, the day will feature post race refreshments, T-shirts and race prizes. Restrooms are available. There will be extra parking at Roslyn Village Hall, 1200 Old Northern Blvd. T-shirts guaranteed to the first 100 entries registered by Oct. 21 and while supplies last for day of race applicants.
For the race, Island Timing of Oakdale will furnish state-of-the-art system timing.
