The Roslyn Marching Bulldogs have just completed an intense and enjoyable week of rehearsals at Camp Taconic in preparation for their upcoming season.
Under the direction of Pat Patterson, band camp is the place where students learn basic techniques, like how to march, and complex tasks like marching into various formations while playing their instruments.
This year the band worked tirelessly to perfect their new performance playing songs from The Sound of Music. In recent years, The Marching Bulldogs have emerged as one of the top acts in all of Long Island in the highly competitive field of high school marching bands.
For 2013, the Marching Bulldogs will move from the Field Band Conference and begin to compete in the US Bands conference. The US Bands is a conference of over 700 bands, which runs 150 shows in 25 states. They are looking forward to competing in the US Band Competition in Norwalk, CT, the Empire State Cup Championship in Uniondale and the US Bands National Championship at Met Life Stadium in New Jersey. As in the past, the band will be playing at Roslyn High School’s Homecoming and other home football games.
The band is also looking forward to the special performances they have which include marching in the Columbus Day Parade in New York City and the parades at the Magic Kingdom and Epcot in Walt Disney World.
