Damiana is the captain of the Roslyn High School gymnastics team and has qualified for All-County honors on Vault and Floor Exercise. A senior, she is currently ranked third in Nassau County on Vault. She has been the Most Valuable Player for the past three years. She is the athlete with the highest vault average in Nassau County that is not a “club” gymnast. She also qualified for the All-County Track Tournament in Winter Track for the high jump.
Luke, also a senior at Roslyn High School, won two of four major Indoor Invitational events this season at the armory. He won the Bishop Loughlin Games and the Stanner Games with a time of 7.64 in the 55 hurdles that is a Long Island best this year. At the Stanner, he also anchored the Shuttle Hurdle Relay to a Long Island Best time of 32.4. In the Hispanic Games he placed third while at the New Balance games he placed second. In these invitational meets he competed against only the best from the eastern seaboard. He won conference and county championships in the 55 hurdles readily while also anchoring the 4x400 meter relay to first and third finishes in those same championships. He is currently looking forward to state qualifiers and, if all goes according to form, a state Class B Championship.
