More Honors For Emily Lipari

Track star improves on running times

Emily Lipari, Greenvale’s amazing track star, is continuing her winning ways at Villanova University. Emily, who is now a sophomore at Villanova, was named the Big East Athlete of the Week in early January following a stellar performance at the Great Dane Classic. In that meet, Emily won the mile event in a time of 4:42.35, while being part of the winning 4X400 meter relay team, which won with a time of 3:57.41.

Another highlight came in the Big East championships, where Emily won the 1000m race. Emily ran a personal best time of 2:46.94 to win that contest.

Emily’s best time of the year in the mile run came at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational, where she finished first with a time of 4:39.78. It marked the first time she broke the 4:40 time barrier in a mile contest.

The Villanova track team website hails Emily as a “terrific talent who made an immediate impact on the team in all seasons as a freshman,” adding that she is a “fierce competitor who is capable of making contributions at the national level.” Track coaches had expectations that Emily would continue making progress in her sophomore year and those hopes have been more than realized as the Greenvale resident continues to make her mark as one of the premier female milers in America.
